If you want to feel motivated, you need to develop a mindset of enjoying small victories and successes.Įnjoying small victories gives you positive dopamine that helps you to continue doing more and gives you motivation. Start your journey with discipline, and motivation will come along the way. There is only one recipe for gaining lasting motivation SUCCESS. Self-motivation is the source of success. You have to feel motivated before you start the work or any project. I know, you must be thinking that if it’s all about discipline, then what is motivation? Now, this doesn’t mean that you do things that you hate, but when you know there are things in your life that is in your best interest to do and that you actually want to get done, then develop the discipline to make these plans for yourself and have these fixed goals. So you got to wake up and do exercise because you have made that discipline, and you have that commitment to yourself. You have to create a “no matter what Sunday, I am going to work out” kind of day. Then you are never going to work out any day. Like for example, you have committed to workout every Saturday and Sunday or something, and when Sunday comes rolling around, you don’t wake up in the morning and be like, do I feel like doing a workout today? Nah. Now, when you have committed to do something on a particular day. So a practical way that you can implement this is to create something I like to call “no matter what” days. Motivation is waiting to feel like doing things, and discipline is actually doing it, even if you do not feel like it. So what I did to get a lot of stuff done is, cut the link between feeling like doing something and doing it. If you wait around to feel like doing everything, then you are not going to get a lot done. The problem is that we can’t depend on ourselves to feel always motivated to do things. Second, we can do it because we have developed discipline. We can wait until we are motivated and feel like doing that thing.
